Yitzhar Hofman (1987 – 31 January 2024) was an Israeli soldier who was a commander in the Israeli Air Force's elite Shaldag Unit.[2][3]

He was a commander in the Israeli Air Force's elite Shaldag unit during the battles with Palestinian militants in the northern Gaza Strip.[4] Hofman was one of the leading Israeli air force commanders who played key roles in the Israel-Hamas war. He was responsible for the raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza in November 2023. He was supervising the attack and siege on the medical compound.[5][6]

On 31 January 2024, Hoffman was killed in battle in the northern Gaza Strip in Tel al-Hawa. Hamas claimed responsibility for his death, saying a Qassam Brigades sniper fatally shot him with a "Ghou" rifle (A modified variant of the Steyr HS .50).[7]
