The XM395 Precision Guided Mortar Munition (PGMM) is a 120 mm guided mortar round under development by Alliant Techsystems.[2]
Design[]
The mortar round has no moving parts and maneuvers itself to the target by means of embedded thruster motors.[3] The guidance system shares the same Distributed Aperture Semi-Active Laser Seeker (DASALS) technology as the BAE Systems APKWS II rocket system.[4]
The most recent XM395 munition consist of a GPS-guided kit fitted to standard 120 mm smooth bore mortar rounds, that includes the fitting of a nose and tail subsystem containing the maneuvering parts.[5][6]
