William E. C. Tait (1886 – 1946) was a Royal Navy officer who became Governor of Southern Rhodesia after his retirement in 1944. He commanded various cruisers between 1928 and 1937. Four years later, he became commander in chief of the Africa Station and was transferred to the South Atlantic Station in 1942.[1]
