Lieutenant-General Sir William Henry Goldney Baker KCIE, CB, DSO, OBE (1888-1964) was a British officer who served in the Indian Army.
Military career[]
Baker was commissioned the unattached list of the Indian Army in 1909 [1] and posted to the 31st Lancers in 1910.[2] He served in World War I and then in the Third Anglo-Afghan War in 1919.[2] He became commanding officer of Probyn's Horse in 1935[3] and took part in operations in Waziristan in 1936.[2] He became Commander of the Delhi Brigade Area in 1938.[2] He served in World War II as Director of Organization at Army Headquarters, India from 1940[3] and as Adjutant-General, India from 1941 before retiring in 1944.[2]
