Wenceslaus Anthony MNZM is an Indian-born New Zealand business man, the Chairman and Managing Director of the WA Marketing Ltd (WAML Group) and the Chairman and Director of Pact Industries Pty Ltd, Australia. He is a recipient of the title, Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to India - New Zealand relations. He resides in Auckland, New Zealand.

Early Years[]

Wenceslaus Vailankanni Melchoir Anthony was born on 28 September 1957 in Calcutta, West Bengal in a Tamilian family to Anthony and Gracy. He did his early education at Don Bosco School, Calcutta and after graduating in B.Com (Hons), he took his M.B.A. from Loyola College, Chennai.

Career in India[]

Wenceslaus started his career at Godrej and Boyce and subsequently moved to Hindustan Computers Ltd.. Later, he became the Deputy Director and Secretary to the Board of Studies for Loyola Institute of Business Administration in the well known Loyola College, Chennai, India.[1]

Career in New Zealand[]

Wenceslaus migrated to New Zealand in 1999 and established WAML Group with offices in New Zealand, Australia, India, Sri Lanka and Singapore.[2] In June 2012, Wenceslaus was appointed as a Director on the Board of Bank of Baroda (New Zealand).[3]

Wenceslaus is also the Chairperson of Business Advisory Group of International College of Auckland[4] where student scholarship is instituted in his name.[5] He completed his term as the Chair of India New Zealand Business Council -INZBC that has been promoting and encouraging Trade and Business between India and New Zealand and now heads the Government Relations in INZBC.[6] He is also on the Advisory Board of New Zealand India Research Institute, Victoria University of Wellington, Directorboard of Swansky Limited[7] and is the founder Director of Conquest Club in New Zealand.[8]

He is also actively involved in India-New Zealand relations.[9] Wenceslaus was a member of the official delegation of the Prime Minister of New Zealand during the State visit to India in June 2011. He was also included in the State Banquet with the Prime Minister of India. He has attended the fourth anniversary of the New Zealand branch of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) held at Alexandra Park in Greenlane, Auckland on Saturday, October 27, 2012 as a special guest.[10] The Hon’ble Speaker of India Parliament, on her official visit to New Zealand, presented a memento to Wenceslaus in appreciation of his contribution to the community.[11]

Wenceslaus Anthony is also involved in charity and initiated the first gathering of the representatives of most of the world’s major faiths to honour the work and memory of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta on the centenary of Mother Teresa’s birth.[12]

On 31st Dec 2013, He was awarded the title of the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit by Elizabeth II in her right as Queen of New Zealand, on advice of the New Zealand Government,[13] for his services to New Zealand - India relations.[14]
