Walter Theodore Achramowicz (2 May 1922 in Ipswich, Massachusetts – 8 April 1977 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) was an American retired United States Air Force Major.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Walter was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts on May 2, 1922.

Military Service & assignments[]

He crashed four times during his military career, he survived all of them.

He was the only officer given Letter of Commendation from the Japanese government for aiding Japan Air Self Defense Force, signed by Lt. Gen. Misoo Mutsumae, Commander JASDF in June, 1960.

He had nearly 23 years active duty in the service after attending college at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.

Personal life[]

He married Lavelle Roberts and together they had two children.

Death[]

He died of unknown causes on April 8, 1977 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was buried in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
