The Vettor Pisani class was a class of armoured cruisers of the Regia Marina. The class comprised two ships, Vettor Pisani and Carlo Alberto.

Design[]

Dimensions and machinery[]

The ships of the class were 105.702 metres (346 ft 9 in) long, had a beam of 18.034 metres (59 ft 2 in), a draught of 7.201 metres (23 ft 8 in), and had a displacement of 6,614 ton. The ships were equipped with 2 shaft reciprocating engines, which were rated at 13,259 ihp (9,887 kW) and produced a top speed of 18.6 knots (34.4 km/h).

Armour[]

The ships had belt and conning tower armour of 5.9 in (15 cm), 2 in (5.1 cm) turret armour and 1.5 in (3.8 cm) deck armour.

Armament[]

The main armament of the ships where twelve 6 in (15 cm) single turret guns. Secondary armament included four single 4.7 in (12 cm) guns.

Construction[]

Both ships where was laid down at the Arsenale Di La Spezia Navy Yard in 1892. Vettor Pisani was launched first on 14 August 1895 and commissioned on 1 April 1899. Carlo Alberto was launched on 23 September 1896 and commissioned on 1 May 1898.
