Major General Tim Buchan Radford DSO OBE (born 23 February 1963) is a British Army officer who serves as General Officer Commanding, Theatre Troops.
Military career[]
Educated at Rugby School and St Chad's College at Durham University (BA, Politics) and King's College London (MA, War Studies), Radford was commissioned into The Light Infantry in 1984.[1] After commanding a battalion of his Regiment and then attending the Staff College, Camberley in 1995, he became Assistant Director of Counter Terrorism and United Kingdom Operations at the Ministry of Defence.[2] He went on to be Commander 19th Light Brigade in 2007, in which role he was deployed as Commander of Task Force Helmand and led the offensive during Operation Panther's Claw in Summer 2009,[3] and then became Head of Overseas Operations in the Ministry of Defence in January 2010.[2] He went on to be Chief of Staff at Combined Force Command in Afghanistan in December 2011.[4] He became General Officer Commanding, Theatre Troops in March 2013.[4]
