Below is the full current structure of the United States Space Force as it appears in 2022 with former units from 2020 and re-designations since then (if applicable).

Space Staff[]

Space Operations Command[]

When the United States Space Force was established as an independent service on 20 December 2019, Air Force Space Command was redesignated as United States Space Force and served as its interim headquarters, but remained part of the U.S. Air Force. Fourteenth Air Force was redesignated as Space Operations Command, however its wings, along with the Space and Missile Systems Center's 61st Air Base Group, were realigned to report directly to United States Space Force.[1][2][3] In June 2020, the Space Force announced its plan to establish Space Operations Command as the first of three field command, with Space Operations Command (formerly Fourteenth Air Force) at Vandenberg AFB to be renamed SpOC West.[4]

Space Delta 2[]

Following the establishment of the United States Space Force, the 21st Space Wing and 21st Operations Group remained units of the U.S. Air Force assigned to United States Space Force. On 24 July 2020, the Space Force reorganized its wings and groups into deltas, inactivating the 21st Space Wing and redesignated the 21st Operations Group as Space Delta 2. Space Delta 2 transferred its space warning squadrons to Space Delta 4, retaining its space domain awareness squadrons. On 21 October 2020, with the redesignation of United States Space Force as Space Operations Command, Space Delta 2 transferred from a unit of the United States Air Force to the United States Space Force.[6]

Space Delta 3[]

Activated on 24 July 2020, Space Delta 3 replaced the former 21st Space Wing's 721st Operations Group upon establishment.[8] The 721st Operations Group was activated on 10 October 2019 partly by realigning units from the former 21st Operations Group to focus securing the electromagnetic spectrum for national security space operations.[9]

Space Delta 4[]

Space Delta is responsible for providing strategic and theater missile warning to the United States and its international partners. It operates three constellations of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellites and two types of Ground-Based Radars (GBRs) for the purpose of conducting strategic and theater missile warning. Additionally, DEL 4 provides tipping and cueing to missile defense forces, battlespace awareness to combatant commanders and technical intelligence for further analysis and manages weapon system architectures and ensures operations are intelligence-led, cyber-resilient, and driven by innovation, while postured to operate in a contested, degraded, and operationally-limited environment.[12]

Space Delta 4 was based on the previous 460th Operations Group, 460th Space Wing and 21st Operations Group–21st Space Wing.[13][14]

Space Delta 5[]

Space Delta 5 is responsible for preparing, presenting, and fighting assigned and attached forces for the purpose of conducting operational-level command and control (C2) of space forces to achieve theater and global objectives. The delta was based upon the previous 614th Air Operations Center, the previous 14th Air Force operations centre.[16]

Space Delta 6[]

Space Delta 6 is responsible for the Satellite Control Network and provides defensive cyberspace capabilities for space mission systems. The delta had formerly been the 50th Network Operations Group, part of the 50th Space Wing.[17]

Space Delta 7[]

Space Delta 7 is responsible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities in support of the Space Force. The delta provides actionable and time-sensitive intelligence for space domain operations including detection, characterization and targeting of adversary space capabilities. The unit employs a variety of fixed and mobile sensors across the globe operated by intelligence professionals to enable its mission to gain and maintain information dominance in the space domain in the execution of National Defense Strategy priorities.[19]

Delta 7 was activated on 24 July 2020 with the redesignation of the United States Air Force's 544th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group.[20] On 3 September 2020, the delta activated the 73rd Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron after the inactivation of the 18th Intelligence Squadron.[21] It gained two additional squadrons on 11 September 2020 with the activation of the 71st Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron and 72nd Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron.[22] On 8 January 2021, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe designated the "Space Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance enterprise" the 18th member of the United States Intelligence Community.[23]

Space Delta 8[]

Space Delta 8 is responsible for satellite communications and positioning, navigation, and timing. The Delta operates, among other constellations, the Global Positioning System for both military and civilian users. Before the founding of an independent Space Force, the Air Force Space Command's (AFSPC) 50th Operations Group (50 OG), part of the 50th Space Wing, performed the satellite communications and position, navigation, and timing missions. As part of the reorganization in the stand-up of Space Force, 50 OG was inactivated and DEL 8 was activated on 24 July 2020.[29][30][31][32] On 8 February 2022, the 50th Operations Support Squadron was inactivated and the 8th Combat Training Squadron was activated.[33]

In September 2021, the Space Force publicly identified Army and Navy SATCOM units that would transfer to DEL 8.[34][35][36] On 6 June 2022, the Naval Satellite Operations Center transferred as the 10th Space Operations Squadron,[37] followed on 29 June 2022 by the Army's 53rd Signal Battalion, which became the 53rd Space Operations Squadron.[38][39]

Space Delta 9[]

Space Delta 9 is responsible for conducting orbital warfare. Its mission involves preparing, presenting, and projecting assigned and attached forces for the purpose of conducting protect and defend operations and providing national decision authorities with response options to deter and, when necessary, defeat orbital threats. It replaced the interim 750th Operations Group, 50th Space Wing, which was activated a month before its redesignation.[44][45]

Space Delta 15[]

Space Delta 15 conducts space battle management, intelligence, and cyber operations. The delta additionally provides direct C2 (Command & Control) support for Space Operations Command.
