The Stand of the Group of Personal Friends took place during the 1973 Chilean coup d'état when members of the Grupo de Amigos Personales engaged the Chilean Armed Forces under the command of Augusto Pinochet. The stand ended when the GAP surrendered after Salvador Allende committed suicide, allowing Pinochet and the other conspirators of the coup to take control of the country. Nearly 30 GAP personnel either died during the fighting or were executed after the fall of the palace.
