A Space Delta, normally abbreviated as DEL, is a OF-5 command of the United States Space Force created in 2020 following a full reorganisation of that branch.[1]

Size[]

In terms of organisation and leadership, a delta can be compared to the Air Force's wing, commanded by a Colonel.[2][3][4][5]

Because the US Space Force only recently became operational, deltas do not have a standard organisation. However, they all have one or more space squadrons and a headquarters.[3][5]

As apposed to wings in the Air Force, deltas are specially trained in one field and focus on that, as apposed to wings which can change and react accordingly to what is needed. This means certain deltas are specialised in fields where other deltas might not have a full understanding in.[3][5]

Examples[]

There are currently 10 deltas within the US Space Force, all commanded by Colonels, they include:[1][2][3][6]
