The siege of Tottori castle in 1581 is one of the few in which starvation tactics were used to a successful completion of the siege. The forces of Toyotomi Hideyoshi cut the castle's supplies and surrounded it for 200 days. The siege ended when the lord of the castle, Kikkawa Tsuneie, surrendered and committed suicide.
