The Siege of Nargund occurred when the Kingdom of Mysore sent its General, Burhanuddin to besiege Nargund. In 1778, Tipu Sultan defeated the Marathas and captured Nargund. Tipu decided to keep its Brahmin ruler, Vyankatrao Bhave, as long as he recognizes Tipu Sultan's supremacy and paid an annual tribute.[3] The Brahmin ruler would later become non-compliant and sought help with the Maratha ruler, Nana. Nana would support Bhave with 5,000 troops.[2] Burhanuddin laid siege to Nargund and on July 29, 1785, Nargunt once again was conquered by the Kingdom of Mysore after Vyankatrao Bhave and Kalopant Pethe surrendered.[1][2]
