Prof Robert William Johnstone CBE, FRSE, FRCOG, (1879–1969) was a Scottish surgeon and a founding Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Life[]
In 1911 he was living at 2 Randolph Place on the edge of the Moray Estate in Edinburgh.[1]
He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War. After the war he was lecturer and then professor of obstetrics at the University of Edinburgh.[2]
In 1920 he began working at the Edinburgh Royal Maternity Hospital. In 1922 he moved to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as Assistant Gynaecologist.[3]
From 1926 to 1946 he was Professor of Midwifery at Edinburgh University[4] succeeding Benjamin Philip Watson. He was succeeded in turn by Robert James Kellar.[5]
He retired in 1946 and died in 1969.[6]
