Robert Maxwell Dudgeon

Robert Maxwell Dudgeon, CBE, DSO, MC, JP (20 February 1881 -6 Nov. 1962)^[1] was a distinguished Scottish soldier and policeman.

The eldest son of Colonel Robert Francis Dudgeon, CB,^[2] he was educated at Uppingham School and Loretto School. He joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders in 1901;^[3] and retired with rank of Brigadier-General in 1920. From 1920 to 1930 he was Governor of HM Prison Edinburgh; and from 1930 to 1945 Chief Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland.^[4]
