ROCS Pan Chao (班超, PFG2-1108) is the sixth of eight Taiwanese-built Cheng Kung-class frigates of the Republic of China Navy, based on the United States Oliver Hazard Perry class.

    Construction and career[]

Laid down in July 1995 and launched in May 1996, Pan Chao was commissioned in December 1997. All of these Taiwanese frigates have the length of the later Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates, but have a different weapon and electronics fit.[1]

Like her sister ships, Pan Chao was built under license by China SB Corp. at Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, ROC.

In 2018, the Dunmu Sailing Training Detachment, with the Wuyi oil and ammunition supply ship as the flagship, the Nabi Bandao warship and the Kunming warship, sailed for a total of 105 days, covering a distance of 23,000 nautical miles. In order to effectively save sailing time and fuel consumption, and in line with the Dunmu visit route planning, it passed through the Panama Canal twice, traveling back and forth between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. [2], led by Major General Gao Jiabin to visit the Marshall Islands[3], El Salvador[4], Nicaragua[5], Dominican Republic[6], Honduras, and Guatemala[7][8]

On February 26, 2025, the ship monitored the PLA's Type 071Simingshan and Type 903 Qiandao Lake in the southwest waters of Taiwan. [9]
