Public Law 80-557 (Pub.L. 80–557, 62 United States Statutes at Large 274, 10 U.S.C. ch. 909) was passed by the U.S. Congress on May 26, 1948. It permanently established the Civil Air Patrol as the auxiliary of the United States Air Force.
