Patrona Halil Rebellion

The Patrona Halil Rebellion is a social uprising in the Ottoman Empire ended the so-called the Tulip period and catapulted Sultan Mahmud I to the throne.[1]

The rule of this Sultan and the time until the 1760s was the last period of stabilization with the success of the Ottoman Empire, as evidenced by the Belgrade Peace Treaty.

The Ottoman Empire did not participate in the Seven Years' War, but the loss of the unsuccessful Russo-Turkish War (1768-1774) destabilized it so that it could never again regain its previous stability.
