Operation Tassergal was a joint operation to fight illegal fishing off the coast of Guyana that took place in 2007.
It aimed, through the actions of Marine Commando's, the Gendarmerie, and helicopters of the French Army, to fight against the fishermen from Surinam and Brazil and fishing illegally in French waters.
French units arrested, sometimes by force, 12 ships during this operation. Exchanges of fire injured four fishermen. Four of the arrested fishermen were tried and convicted under this operation.
