The Mogadishu Turkish embassy bombing occurred on 27 July 2013, when a suicide bomber drove a truck into the gate of the Turkish embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia. The resulting explosion killed 6 and injured 9.[1]
Responsibility[]
Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.[2]
Reactions[]
Somalia: President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud he called "an act of cowardly desperation by terrorists" and condemned the "criminal act."[1]
- United States: U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki called the bombing a "cowardly act, but said it will not shake the U.S. commitment to continue working for the brighter, more democratic and prosperous future the people of Somalia deserve."[2]
