Max Looff was a naval officer of the Imperial German Navy and later a military writer. Looff commanded the SMS Königsberg during the Battle of the Rufiji Delta before it was sunk by two Royal Navy monitors, HMS Mersey and Severn on the 11th July 1915.
Career
Looff enlisted in the navy in 1891 and completed his training aboard the SMS Stosch before attending the naval school in Kiel.
Looff is granted commanded of the Königsberg on the 1st of April 1914 and holds this command until the ship is sunk in the Rufiji Delta in July the next year.
