Marcia Carol Martin Anderson (née Mahan) became in 2011 the first African-American woman to achieve the rank of major general in the United States Army Reserve.[1] She was born 1958 in Beloit, Wisconsin, and finished school in East St. Louis, Illinois.[2]
As a civilian, General Anderson serves as clerk for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.[3]
A graduate of Creighton University and Rutgers Law School (disambiguation)|Rutgers Law School, she is married to Amos Charles Anderson.[4][5] The couple lives in Wisconsin.[6]
Her military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Parachutist Badge, and Physical Fitness Badge.[7]
