The Hellenic Macedonian Committee was a revolutionary organization with the aim of liberation of Macedonia from the Ottoman Empire (in the Vilayets of Monastir and Salonika). The Makedoniko Komitato (Μακεδονικό Κομιτάτο, meaning "Macedonian Committee") was formed in 1903, under the leadership of wealthy publisher Dimitrios Kalapothakis; its members included Ion Dragoumis and Pavlos Melas.[1] The guerilla fighters were called Makedonomachoi.
