The cargo ship ran aground at Kandla, India. She was refloated on 8 August; the salvage was completed on 18 August and she was then sold for scrapping.[4]

The oil tanker was scuttled in the Mediterranean Sea off Wied iż-Żurrieq, Malta, as an artificial reef. It had been laid up in Grand Harbour since 1995, when the ship exploded killing 9 Maltese dockyard workers.[7]
