- Elbing (
Nazi Germany): World War II: The cargo ship was damaged by artillery shelling and beached at Schweinesand. She was later repaired and returned to service.
- Gutzon Borglum (
United States): The Liberty ship was damaged in a typhoon. She was refloated but collided with a United States Navy tug and was declared a constructive total loss.[1]
- Taruyasu Maru (
Imperial Japanese Navy): World War II: The cargo liner was either struck by a mine or bombed and sunk by United States Navy aircraft off Japan. Date was either 25 June or 25 July. Later salvaged by the British and returned to service as Empire Evenlode.
- U-F2 (
Kriegsmarine): End of World War II: The Aurore-class submarine was scuttled at Gotenhafen, Pomerania sometime after 5 July.
- U-325 (
Kriegsmarine): World War II: The Type VIIC/41 submarine struck a mine and sank in the Atlantic Ocean off Lizard Point, Cornwall, United Kingdom (49°48′N 5°12′W / 49.8°N 5.2°W) sometime between 30 April and 9 May with the loss of all 52 crew.[2]
- U-745 (
Kriegsmarine): World War II: The Type VIIC submarine struck a mine and sank in the Gulf of Finland sometime between 30 January and 10 February with the loss of all 48 crew.[3]
- U-3502 (
Kriegsmarine): World War II: The Type XXI submarine was bombed and damaged at Hamburg. She was consequently withdrawn from service on 3 May and scrapped post-war.[4]
- W-34 (
Imperial Japanese Navy): World War II: The minesweeper was torpedoed and sunk in the Java Sea by USS Chub (
United States Navy) sometime between 18 April and 14 May.[5]
- W. P. Few (
United States): World War II: The Liberty ship became stranded and was declared a constructive total loss.[6]
