Kevin Michael Cahill (May 5, 1936 – September 14, 2022) was an American physician.[2]

Biography[]

Cahill was born in The Bronx, New York, the son of Genevieve Campion, a teacher and John Cahill, a physician.[1] He was of Irish descent from his grandparents.[1] Cahill attended the Fordham University, later graduating in 1957.[1] He then attended the Cornell University, where he earned his medical degree in 1961.[1] Cahill emigrated to London, where he attended the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.[1]

Cahill had worked at a clinic along with nun Mother Teresa.[1] He had served as the senior advisor for 51st Governor of New York, Hugh Carey, of whom he was also considered a close friend and also was his special assistant for health affairs.[3][4] Cahill had served in the United States Navy for the medical corps for two years, in which he had established his medicine work in New York.[1] He served as the chairperson for a sector that involved tropical diseases at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland from 1970 to 2006.[1]

Cahill had retired as the senior advisor for Carey in 1980.[1] He worked at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.[1] Cahill had written books and was also stated by lawyer and politician Albert H. Blumenthal with the words "He's very single‐minded, quite stubborn and rigid" and also the words "but he's an easy man to deal with. There's actually no deceit to him".[1] In June 2022, he was sued by a Colorado resident Megan Wesko for sexual assault and also for other issues.[4] Cahill died in September 2022 at his home in Point Lookout, New York, at the age of 86.[1]
