John Stansbury (28 March 1788–11 September 1814) was an officer in the United States Navy killed during the War of 1812.

Stansbury was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He served under Stephen Decatur as a midshipman in United States during the capture of the British ship, Macedonian. He was a Lieutenant when he was killed during the Battle of Lake Champlain. USS Stansbury (DD-180) was named for him.
