Joab Hoisington was a major in the American Revolutionary war who notably led the Hoisington Rangers. He was born September 19, 1736 in Hartford, Connecticut to John Hoisington and Sarah Templar. He married Mary Boardman in January 14, 1759, in Connecticut, and they had eight children. He died February 28, 1777 in Orange, Vermont of smallpox.[1]
