After a Japanese bombardment late in the night of 19 December 1941, at 0400 on 20 December, Japanese troops stormed the city of Davao. The only opposition met was one machine gun nest, which after inflicting several casualties, was knocked out. After that, the Japanese met no further opposition from the town. There was also no resistance made to the southwest of the city.^[1]
