Jacob Michel "Jack" Abjanich (22 September 1923 in Wisconsin - 8 July 1997 in Fresh Meadows, New York) was an American pilot in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross which awarded for heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight.
Early life[]
Jack was born in Wisconsin on September 22, 1923 to Steve and Justine Abjanich who were immigrants from Yugoslavia.[1] He also had a brother named George.[1]
Military service[]
Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces from New York City, New York on November 27, 1942 (ASN: 12177447)[2] and served in World War II.
Death[]
He passed away on July 8, 1997 in Fresh Meadows, New York. He was 73.
