In aerial combat, an intruder is a fighter aircraft tasked with operating in the vicinity of an enemy airbases with the purpose of attacking aircraft as they take off or land.
Intruder squadrons using de Havilland Mosquito aircraft were employed by the RAF against airfields in France prior to D-day, and later using the Hawker Hurricane IIC in various theatres.
