Admiral Sir Ian Andrew Forbes KCB CBE (born 24 October 1946) is a former Royal Navy officer who became Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic.

Educated at Eastbourne College, Forbes joined the Royal Navy in 1965.[1] He was given command of the patrol boat HMS Kingfisher, the frigate HMS Diomede, the frigate HMS Chatham and then the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible.[1] He was appointed Military Advisor to Carl Bildt at the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War in 1996[1] and Commander, United Kingdom Task Group in 1997.[2]
He went on to be Commander, Surface Flotilla in 2000,[2] Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic in January 2002 and Acting Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic in October 2002.[3][3] Finally he was made Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation in June 2003 before retiring in July 2004.[1] He was awarded the Legion of Merit by the US Government in 2004.[1]
In retirement he has become an advisor to Booz & Company.[1] He is also Chairman of the Governors of Eastbourne College.[1]
