Heinrich von der [1] Mark (December 14, 1782 – June 14, 1865) was a Bavarian Lieutenant General and Acting War Minister from February 1 to April 5, 1848.
Biography[]
Von der Mark was born in Aldenhoven and died in Bamberg. He took part in the campaigns of the Bavarian army in the years from 1800 to 1815, was advanced to a Major in 1815, to an Oberstleutnant in 1825 and to an Oberst in 1832. In 1841 he became Major General and Brigadier, and a view month later Lieutenant General, also in 1841.[2] During the Lola Montez affair, von der Mark refused to deploy the troops for defending her against the Munich students and citizens on February 11, 1848.[3] After the withdrawal of Ludwig I of Bavaria, von der Mark stood war minister under Maximilian II of Bavaria.
