General der Flieger (literally: General of the Flyers) was a General’s rank of the German Luftwaffe. Until the end of WW2, the German rank of General was a 3-star rank, equivalent to a US Lieutenant general. The German equivalent of a US 4-star General was a Generaloberst.

The rank was equivalent to the long established General der Kavallerie, General der Artillerie and General der Infanterie. The Wehrmacht also introduced General der Gebirgstruppen (mountain troops), General der Pioniere (engineers), General der Fallschirmtruppen (parachute troops), General der Nachrichtentruppen (communication troops), and General der Panzertruppen (armored troops).
