Air Vice Marshal Gagan Pulasthi Bulathsinghala was born on 12 September 1961. He joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet on 12 February 1981 and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the General Duties Pilot Branch on 8 April 1983. Promoted to the present rank on 25th Aug 2009.

The Officer has attended different professional courses including Junior Command and Staff, Air Warfare, Aircraft Accident investigation and is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell AF Base, Alabama, USA. A fellow of Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii, and Near East South Asia Centre for Strategic Studies, National Defence University, Washington. Air Vice Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala RWP, RSP, USP, M Phil (Def & Start Stu), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, ndc, psc is the Director of Operations Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters, Colombo.

He was educated at Nalanda College Colombo.
