FMF Combat Operations Insignia

The FMF Combat Operations Insignia is a miniature bronze United States Marine Corps emblem that may be awarded for wear on campaign, expeditionary, and service medals and ribbons issued to United States Navy service members attached to and operating with units of the Marine Corps. The insignia may also be awarded for wear by those naval personnel attached to navy units operating with the Marine Corps while under Marine Corps control during combat operations.[1][2][3][4]

Criteria for the device[]

The insignia must be authorized for wear in order to be worn by Navy service members such as Navy Hospital Corpsmen attached to Marine Corps units and Seabees attached to naval units operating with the Marine Corps. The unit, or individual assigned to a unit, must have engaged in active combat during service with the unit. No more than one Marine Corps emblem may be worn on the ribbons.

The insignia is positioned in the center of the suspension ribbon and service ribbon of and for the medal. Any other authorized devices such as the 3/16 inch service star or campaign star, are placed on either side of the insignia, with the first star on the wearer's right of the insignia, the second star on the wearer's left of the insignia, and so on.
