The First Battle of Salvador was a military engagement between Dutch forces under Governor John Maurice, Prince of Nassau-Siegen numbering circa 4600 supported by 30 ships (led by Johan van der Mast) and the Portuguese defensors of the city, commanded by Luís Barbalho.

The battle resulted in a crushing victory for the Portuguese.
