The First Ağrı Operation or the First Ağrı Rebellion was the uprising and suppression operation prepared by the Celali, Hasenan, Cibran and Haydaran tribes under the leadership of Celali Berho, the chief of the Celali Tribe, in and around Mount Ararat.
Start[]
After the Sheikh Said Rebellion, tribes such as Celali, Hasenan, Cibran and Haydaran took shelter in Mount Ararat. On May 16, 1926, the 28th Regiment of Turkey's 9th Division suppressed Poti. When the Kurdish tribes withdrew from Kalecik village in Bayezit Muson, the 28th Regiment followed them to the Demirkapı region and fought with the Kurdish insurgents.
Kurdish tribes became stronger with the participation of Iranian Sakanlı and Kızılbaş tribes from the Serdarbulak - Geyve direction in the uprising. The 28th Regiment, which was defeated in the conflict, was disbanded.
Troops affiliated with the 9th Division moved from Zengezor at 09.00 on 15 June 1926 and advanced to the foothills of Mount Ararat via Şıhlı, Celal and Çevirme. At 05.15 on June 16, 1926, Kurdish tribes started shooting.
