Excellent Doctor (Vietnamese language: Thầy thuốc ưu tú) is a title awarded by the State of Vietnam (nhà nước Việt Nam) to individuals working in the medical field who have made many important contributions to the cause and development of Vietnamese medicine.

To be considered for the title of Excellent Doctor, a physician must have achieved good results for many years, improve the quality and efficiency of work in his/her field, and be recognized by colleagues and direct management loved by the people. In addition, there must be many positive contributions to the construction of units and industries in terms of: professional and technical development, staff training and development, building a team of medical technicians, improving management organization and management. management, improve professional quality and service efficiency. In addition, there must be scientific research topics, initiatives, application of scientific and technical advances or valuable useful solutions of modern medicine or traditional ethnic medicine that are widely applied, practical effectiveness in units and localities. These scientific research topics and initiatives must be recognized and ranked highly by the scientific council of the unit under the Ministry or the local health sector.

1. Objects considered for conferring the title of "Excellent Doctor" include doctors, pharmacists, medical doctors, ethnic medicine doctors doing medical examination and treatment, pharmaceutical production, medical research, and hygiene. disease prevention, epidemic prevention and health management staff.
2. The title "Excellent Doctor" shall be considered and awarded to the subjects specified in Clause 1 of this Article who meet the following criteria:
a) Loyalty to the Socialist Vietnam Fatherland.
b) Having good ethical qualities, being dedicated to the profession, whole heartedly loving the patient, having talent, having many excellent achievements in the profession, being trusted by the people, patients and colleagues.
c) Having directly performed professional and technical work in the industry for 15 years or more; For health managers, they must have worked in the industry for 20 years or more, of which 10 years or more have been directly involved in professional and technical work.
3. The title of "Excellent Doctor" is considered and announced every two years on the occasion of the Vietnamese Doctor's Day (Ngày thầy thuốc Việt Nam) on February 27.
