Elisabeth Volkenrath (5 September 1919 – 13 December 1945) was German supervisor at several Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
Volkenrath trained under Johanna Langefeld at Ravensbrück concentration camp during 1941, and in October 1942 went to Auschwitz Birkenau as an Aufseherin along with her sister Gertrud Weininger-Mühland. She was promoted from simple Aufseherin to Rapportführerin (Report Leader) along with her sister, and in November 1944, she was further promoted to Oberaufseherin and oversaw three hangings.
Command of the women's camp, which was separated from the men's area by the incoming railway line, was held in turn by Johanna Langefeld, Maria Mandel, and Volkenrath. She worked at Bergen-Belsen as supervising wardress.
Belsen trial[]
In April 1945, she was arrested by the British Army, and stood trial with Irma Grese at the Belsen Trial. She was sentenced to death, and executed at Hamelin Prison by Albert Pierrepoint later that year.
