Edwin Neve (3 May 1885 – 3 August 1920), sometimes known as Ned Neve,[3] was a professional football outside left who played in the Football League for Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Hull City.[4] He also played for Chesterfield Town and St Helens Recreation.[5]

Personal life[]

Neve worked as a brewer's traveller.[6] He served as a bombardier with the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War,[7] having been conscripted in May 1916.[6] Neve died of heart problems in 1920, as a result of being gassed during the war.[6] He was buried in Prescot Parish Churchyard.[6]
