Edward Anthony "Ted" Rodgers (June 12, 1917 - February 18, 2016) was an American Rear Admiral in the United States Merchant Marine. From 1964 to 1984, he was the Superintendent of the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.
Early life[]
Ted was born on June 12, 1917, in Fall River, Massachusetts to Thomas Albert and Ella Walsh Rodgers. He also had two brothers (Thomas and William). He graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1934 and studied chemistry at Durfee Technical Institute (later renamed Bradford Durfee College of Technology, closed in 1964).

- 1936-1940: Attended the United States Naval Academy, graduated in 1940 and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy; graduated from flight school as a naval aviator.

- Commanding Officer, Naval Air Development Unit, Naval Air Station South Weymouth, Massachusetts
- 1962-1964: Professor of Naval Science and Head of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Program at Harvard University
He retired as a Captain in 1964.
Merchant Marine/Maritime Service career[]
- 1964: Appointed a Rear Admiral in the Merchant Marine.
- 1964-1984: Superintendent of the Maine Maritime Academy, Castline, Maine
He retired as a Rear Admiral in 1984.
Post military career[]
Ted was a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Meals on Wheels in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He also tutored advanced math at Our Savior’s Catholic School.

Personal life[]
He married Marguerite V. Romero in 1943 and together they had five children (Carolyn, Edward II, Mary, Claire, and Marguerite). His wife passed away in 2012.
Death[]
Ted passed away on February 18, 2016, in Cocoa Beach, Florida at the age of 98. He was buried in the Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland.
