Garad Deria Gure (Somali language: Garaad Diiriye Guure , Arabic language: دريي قوري) (April 7, 1858, in Taleh, northern Somalia – September 11, 1916 in Buuhoodle) was the monarch and head of state of the Dervish Kingdom between 1885 and 1916. For over 20 years Diiriye Guure managed to prevent European colonial forces aided by Abysinia and local Somali levies from overthrowing his kingdom wherein he was a regent due to the young age of his predecessor. Garad Deria Gure was the 16th Garad of the Si'iid Harti lineage and direct predecessor of Garad Aar Dheel. The coronation of Garad Deria Gure had also reestablished the original primogeniture of the Reer Darawiish clan.[1]
