The Kargı Pazarı Conflict was the raid on the reinforcements and ammunition sent by the French to the Haçin Armenians by militia forces from Akçalıuşağı, Boztahta, Karahamzalı, Tokmaknaklı, Kuyubeli and surrounding villages.

Conflict[]

When the French felt the need to reinforce the Haçin Armenians, they believed that he was one of their trusted men. They apply to Feke Mayor Cezmi Bey and ask about the route they should follow to go to Haçin, and Cezmi Bey informs them that the most suitable route is the road passing through Eskimantaş, Karahamzalı, Akçalıuşağı and Tapan, passing through the stony gap called the Ridge road.

On the other hand, he sent a message to Deli Hacı Ağa, informing him that the French would send weapons, ammunition and forces to Haçin and that the route they would follow was Taşlıgedik, Akçalıuşağı and Tapan route. Accordingly, he wants precautions to be taken, a lookout should be placed on Sıralif's back and this place should be constantly monitored. Deli Hacı Ağa kept Kozan under custody by keeping his men on guard in Sıralift.

Finally, the scouts reported that a large group had left Kozan. As the crowd advances, the scouts retreat, following the same path. As a result, the villagers, who were informed that they were turning back to the road, took their weapons and took their places in the valley between Tokmanaklı and Akçalıuşağı, where it was previously decided to set up an ambush.

In front of 92 loaded animals and 92 armed Armenians, 15 armed Armenian Volunteer Fedayeen follow the Haçin road. When Karahasan's daughter, who went to Köreken village from Upper Tokmanaklı, killed 13-year-old Fatma by cutting off her head, at the beginning of the Lower Tokmanaklı cemetery, this monstrosity rightly exhausted the patience of the villagers. The convoy goes to rest at a place called Kargapazarı. While the armed villagers were busy watching them on the hills, Şahbaz Mehmet from İboğlu and İshak from Karabucak village, who were hunting birds by the pine grove, unaware of everything, came across three armed and mounted Armenian scouts. An argument begins between them. As a result, three Armenians are killed. Upon hearing these gunshots, they start firing from the mountains. The Armenians, confused as to what had happened, responded to the scattered gunshots. Hearing the gunshots, the villagers take weapons and run. This increases the morale of the gangs.

Within an hour, the Kargapazarı region becomes the scene of a war. Those actively involved in this work are:

1. Bayatoğlu Ahmet Sergeant,

2. Deli Hacı Ağa from Karabucak and the gang

3. Blacksmith İbrahim Ağa from Akçalıuşağı Village,

4. Deli Ümmet, Çöllogğ, Şahbaz Ali and Mehmet Çavuş from Karahamzalı Village, who were in G Ali Ağa (Mümin Kulu) and his gang,

5. Black Boy from Kuyubelin, Altıparmak,

6. Mehmet Hodja,

7. Mustafa Sergeant,

8. Mustafa Efendizade Arif from Kozan.

Thanks to the anonymous heroes from Akçalıuşağı, Boz Tahtak, Karahamzalı, Tokmaknaklı, Kuyubeli and the surrounding villages, this raid resulted in victory.

In this incident, only Mehmet, the son of Deli Hacı from Boztahta Village, was martyred. Many of the Armenians were killed and their weapons were confiscated. A few Armenians barely escaped with their lives, along with the traitor Cossack Hasan, who guided the Armenians.

The Kargapazarı incident was very useful as the weapons and ammunition taken were used in the liberation of Kozan and the capture of Feke and Saimbeyli (Haçin), as was the case in the Bozat Pass.
