Company D, 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment of the Florida Army National Guard was reorganized in 2006-07 from A Company, 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry. The Eustis, FL based company has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. The company, claims its roots back to 6 November 1947, when it was federally recognized as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 124th Infantry, 48th Armored Division. The Regiment was broken up on 1 November 1955 and HQ & HQ Co was then assigned to 3d Battalion, 154th Armored Infantry Battalion, 48th Armored Division. On 15 April 1959, the 154th Armored Infantry consolidated with the then 124th Armored Infantry Battalion to form 1st and 2d Armored Rifle Battalions of 124th Infantry Regiment. The Regiment was reorganized 20 January 1968 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 53d Infantry Brigade.
