Clarence E. Abair
Clarence Edmund Abair (4 June 1922 in Ludlow, Massachusetts - Killed in action 16 December 1944 in Belgium) was an American Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II.
Early life[]
Clarence was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts on 4 June 1922. He was the son of Ernest W. and Alva A. Abair. His other siblings included three brothers (Henry, Edward, and Eugene) and a sister (Rose). He graduated from Ludlow High School in 1940.
Military service[]
Clarence enlisted in the United States Army from Springfield, Massachusetts on 23 February 1943 (ASN: 31285431). He was a mechanic with the 184th Transport Company, 487th Port Battalion.
Death[]
On 6 December 1944, he was killed by when a German buzz bomb hit a theater in Belgium where he was watching a movie, demolishing the theater. His body was buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial near Welkenraedt, Belgium.
