The Chief of the Staff of the French Air Force (French, CEMAA) is in France the officer commanding this army. The French Air Force (French) became independent in 1934, making way after the "Aéronautique militaire" which was dependent of the French Army. The Air Chief CEMAA is a direct subordinate of the Chief of the general staff headquarters of the Armies CEMA.
