Corporal Charles Brown (born 1849) received the United States's highest honor for bravery, the Medal of Honor. Corporal Brown was a United States Marine and was born in New York City. He enlisted in Hong Kong in 1870. The tracking number for his Medal of Honor is No.: 169, and is dated 8 February 1872. Brown never received his medal, as he deserted from the Marine Corps in October 1871.[1]

- On board the USS Colorado in action against a Korean fort on 11 June 1871. Assisted in capturing the Korean standard in the center of the citadel of the fort.[2]
