Local administrative units of the Republic of Ireland

In the European Union, LAUs are basic components of Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) regions. The scope of this category is LAU-1, previously called NUTS-4, which is the category immediately below Region. In Ireland, LAU-1 areas are identical with the areas under the jurisdiction of county and city councils.
