British Army Captain rank insignia
Captain is a military rank within many land forces, usually a commander or OIC of a company, battalion or squadron. This is completely separate to the naval rank (and post) of Captain. The equivalent rank of the Captain in the Philippines is Senior Inspector used by Police, Fire, and Jail force.
- In the US Army, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, Captain is an OF-3 rank above First Lieutenant and below Major.
- In the British Army and Royal Marines, Captain is an OF-3 rank above Lieutenant and below Major
